Tropical Storm Cindy

It feels like monsoon season has come to Baldwin County, Alabama, especially with Tropical Storm Cindy dumping several inches of rain on us. Her wet, slow-moving march across the county is causing cabin fever in residents and vacationers alike.

We drove down from Bay Minette to check on the state of affairs at the beaches today. As many of you know, locals and vacationers alike have been warned not to swim, for obvious safety reasons. Law enforcement officials have stated that those caught swimming in these dangerous conditions could face jail and/or fines. I was surprised to find that many more people than I expected to were respecting the mandates to keep out of the surf.

While some vacationers’ spirits may have been dampened by the wet weather, many were still finding ways to enjoy themselves at the indoor amusements such as The Track, the new “Escape House” at Waterville, and Adventure Island.

I have included pictures and video from our tropical storm trip to the beach below, particularly water levels in the Bear Point community and surf near the Lee Calloway Bridge.
